A Brasileira do Chiado is one of those mandatory stops you have to make when you visit Lisbon for the first time. Outside on the terrace you can find the statue of one of the greatest Portuguese poets of all time – Fernando Pessoa. Sitting on a table, as he used to in his time, there isn’t a tourist that doesn’t stop for a picture by his side. That is the modern Brasileira: people running in and out, cameras flashing around, a mix of cultures and languages, but still the enchantment of other times. Many “alfacinhas” run away from A Brasileira but we should never forget that inside there is a piece of our soul.
